Reliable top-mounted mixing solutions, configured to your process — engineered and built by KEHENG since 1989.
The KEHENG top-entry agitator (flange mount gear drive mixer) is a complete top-mounted mixing unit designed for open and closed vessels of almost any size. The drive train — motor, gear reducer, coupling and support frame — is mounted on the vessel top flange, transmitting torque down a central shaft to a process-matched impeller.
Every KEHENG agitator is built around a modular configuration system. Instead of a one-size-fits-all machine, we combine motor, reducer, coupling, frame, sealing and impeller options to match your mounting arrangement, flow pattern, viscosity and process requirements. Whether you are blending bulk chemicals, suspending solids in a large storage tank, or desulfurizing flue gas in a coal-fired plant, the unit is specified around your duty — not the other way around.

Industries | Chemical, oil & gas, FGD, coating, pulp & paper, water treatment, food & beverage, biofuels |
· Modular drive configuration — Each agitator is assembled from a proven component system, so the drive train is matched to your torque and speed requirements rather than selected from a limited standard range.
· Energy-efficient, explosion-proof motors — IE3 high-efficiency motors are supplied as standard, cutting energy use by roughly 15–20% compared with conventional motors. Explosion-proof versions are available for hazardous areas.
· Heavy-duty gear reducers — Three standard reducer families cover the full duty spectrum: R series (coaxial type, compact and widely applied); K series (bevel gear type, high torque capacity and right-angle layout); F series (parallel shaft type for space-constrained installations).
· Reliable couplings — GT rigid convex couplings for precise torque transfer, or HL cylindrical pin couplings where slight misalignment compensation is required.
· Flexible support frames — DXJ single-support frames for standard duties; LDJ single-support frames with the option of a mechanical or packing seal at the frame bottom for sealed applications; FZ double-support frames for long shafts and heavy impeller loads.
· Process-matched impellers — Impeller type, diameter and position are selected and, where needed, custom-designed for your tank geometry and mixing duty.
· Sealing to match the application — Single-end face seals for general chemical service (rated to 1.6 MPa), double-end face seals for food and pharmaceutical applications with online cleaning, and magnetic seals for high-temperature / high-pressure duties (up to 200 °C / 2.5 MPa) where absolute leak-tightness is required.
· Corrosion-resistant construction — Key wetted components available in 316L stainless steel, resistant to acid and alkali concentrations up to 40%, suitable for both low-temperature workshops and aggressive acidic environments.

Different installation arrangements produce different flow fields, which significantly affect mixing results. KEHENG top-entry agitators are available in three standard forms:
The agitator shaft is mounted on the vessel center line with the impeller symmetrically arranged. Driven by belt, gear reducer or direct motor drive, this is the most widely used arrangement, covering power from 0.1 kW to several hundred kW. Typical classification: small units below 3.7 kW (common in the food industry), medium units from 5.5 to 22 kW, and large units above 22 kW. Speed ranges: low < 100 r/min, medium 100–400 r/min, high > 400 r/min.
The agitator is installed off the vessel center line, preventing the liquid from rotating as a solid mass around the shaft and creating an effect similar to baffles. The asymmetric pressure distribution enhances turbulence between liquid layers and visibly improves mixing. Because eccentric operation can cause vibration, this form is generally limited to smaller equipment.
The agitator is clamped directly to the upper edge of an open vessel, with the shaft entering at an angle. Light, simple and easy to maintain, it suits cylindrical and square open tanks and prevents vortex formation. Typically used on small equipment with 0.1–2.2 kW drives and speeds of 36–300 r/min, with single or double impeller layers.
Table 4. Impeller Selection Guide
Material | Recommended Impeller | Typical Speed / Power |
Thin liquids (viscosity ≤ 1,000 cP), e.g. beverages | Three-blade propeller | 100 – 1,000 r/min |
Thick materials (1,000 – 50,000 cP), e.g. ointments, asphalt | Pitched-blade anchor, 5–8 mm wall clearance | 20 – 100 r/min |
Particle-laden slurries (particles ≤ 5 mm), e.g. sludge, mineral slurry | Serrated dispersion disc | 1.5 – 15 kW |
